Yekrats.com: Scotto’s Seafud Shanty

I needed to upgrade my WordPress to version 2.7, so I thought I might as well update the theme of my blog. I’ve never done that before! I found out it’s pretty easy in WP, but you need to download the file, and upload it to a special directory, and Voila!

I’ve been accused of having a boring blog, but I don’t think this helps much.

My good pal Fuzzy alerted me that someone hacked into my Wordpress and submitted spam in an unused bit of CSS. (It only showed up in browsers without CSS.)

I cleaned it up, but it seemed like a good enough reason to update to the latest version of Wordpress. However, my category links seem to be smurged. I’ll work on that.

I don’t think any of you folks used this, but due to me getting my own domain hosted, I am dropping an old email address: scotto@spamcop.net. Spamcop has some excellent filters and tools for battling spam. However, with the new hosting system, I have a nice “whitelist” system. If you send email to my scotto ***At*** yekrats.com address, you may get an immediate return mail from me. The return mail will be to verify that you are indeed a live human being, and not some soul-sucking robot spammer. Just return that email back to me, and your original email will be delivered, and you’ll be put on the whitelist. You should only be hassled with the whitelist once.

I see addresses which are clearly spammers on my whitelist, but I haven’t received ANY spam from it in the last few months. I think a few spammers return that email to get whitelisted, but by the time they try to use their account again, it is usually cancelled. Also, if you ever have any problems, you can also email me at my Gmail account. My handle is Yekrats there.
